Russian Foreign Ministry reports restrictions on broadcasting, access for over 80 European media outlets

MOSCOW. June 25 (Interfax) - Russia is imposing restrictions on broadcasting and access in Russia for over 80 European media outlets as a retaliatory measure, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.

"In response to the May 17 decision of the Council of the European Union banning 'any broadcasting activity' of three Russian media outlets (RIA Novosti, Izvestia and Rossiyskaya Gazeta), which takes effect today, on June 25, retaliatory restrictions are introduced on accessing from Russian territory the broadcasting resources of certain media outlets of EU member states and EU media operators that systematically disseminate inaccurate information about the progress of the special military operation," the ministry said in a statement on its website.

"If the restrictions on the Russian media outlets are lifted, the Russian side will also reconsider its decision on these media operators," it said.

The list includes 81 media outlets from 25 EU member states and European media operators, the ministry said. Germany's Spiegel, Zeit and Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Spain's Mundo, Pais and EFE, Italy's Stampa, Repubblica and RAI, France's Monde, Liberation and France-Presse, and Europe's Politico and Euobserver are among the sanctioned media outlets.
