YEREVAN. June 25 (Interfax) - Armenia's decision to recognize the state of Palestine is based on its commitment to the "two-state" solution, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said.

"Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan spoke with Palestinian Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Mohammed Mustafa by phone on June 24," the Armenian Foreign Ministry's press service said.

Mustafa thanked Armenia for its principled stance on the recognition of the state of Palestine.

In turn, Mirzoyan "stressed that, indeed, Armenia's stance derives from its commitment to the 'two-state' solution and underlines the importance of settling the situation that leads to heavy casualties," the press service said.

The parties also discussed the development of bilateral relations and political dialogue, it said.
