Ukraine's DTEK to start building large wind farm in Poltava Region in 2027

MOSCOW. June 24 (Interfax) - DTEK Renewables, the green power division of Ukrainian energy group DTEK, has received the technical specifications for connecting 650 MW of capacity of a wind farm it plans to build in Poltava region to the country's energy system.

"DTEK Renewables is in the process of obtaining all the necessary permits and documents to prepare for the construction of DTEK Poltavska Wind Power Plant. The company has received technical specifications to connect 650 MW of capacity to the Ukrainian energy grid," Ukrainian media reported the company as saying on social media.

"The availability of technical specifications is an important prerequisite for the design of the future wind farm's power collection substation. Construction is due to start in 2027," the company said.

A second meteorological mast has been installed in the Hlobynska community in Poltava region to monitor the wind. "The use of two meteorological masts is due to the need for the most accurate assessment of key parameters such as wind flow directions and wind strength, as the wind farm will be located over a very large area," the company said.

The company is also conducting ornithological surveys.

Meanwhile, "the company has started communicating with land users to allocate land plots for the further placement of five 330kV substations and wind turbines."

It was reported earlier that DTEK Renewables plans to develop projects totaling 650 MW in Poltava region and up to 650 MW in southern Ukraine in the next five years.

The DTEK group produced 999 GWh of electricity in 2023.
