Promstroyarktik to build terminals for Northern Sea Route in Chukotka, Arkhangelsk

ANADYR. June 21 (Interfax) - Promstroyarktik LLC will build logistics terminals in Bilibino, Chukotka and in Arkhangelsk, each with capacity to handle 3,000 tonnes of cargo per month, the press service for Chukotka's governor's office and government reported.

The project will be carried out under an agreement with the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation (FEDC) under the regime of the Arctic Zone of Russia, of which the company is a resident. The terminals are scheduled to open in 2026.

"The logistics terminals that we plan to build in Bilibino and Arkhangelsk, the beginning and end points of the [Northern Sea Route] are intended for the transportation of cargo both along the Northern Sea Route and trucking companies in the Arctic Zone. The warehouse complexes will consist of outdoor and indoor storage where we will receive, ship and transfer cargo between various types of transport," Promstroyarktik CEO Zalikha Kurbanova was quoted as saying in the press release.

"With the development of the Northern Sea Route, [Chukotka] will get a significant increase in the scale of shipments food, construction materials and fuel, including year-round, an increase in competition. And, consequently, this means a decrease in prices for logistics, faster delivery and a decrease in the cost of goods. Furthermore, this is investment in infrastructure, meaning the creation of new jobs," Chukotka Governor Vladislav Kuznetsov said in the press release.

Promstroyarktik was founded in March 2024 in Bilibino and is wholly owned by Igor Makeyev, the CEO and founder of an eponymous LLC in St. Petersburg involved in the wholesale trade of "other construction materials and products," the Unified State Register of Legal Entities showed.
