National Bank of Ukraine approves Viktor Ponomarenko for Ukreximbank CEO
MOSCOW. June 20 (Interfax) - The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has approved the candidacy of Viktor Ponomarenko, ProCreditBank head since 2012, for the position of CEO of JSC Ukreximbank, Ukrainian media said, citing a statement on the NBU website.
ProCreditBank and Ukreximbank are both based in Kiev.
"With the consent of Ponomarenko and the Supervisory Board, in order to ensure an efficient transition of powers, he will start working in the post of JSC Ukreximbank CEO from July 1, 2024," the NBU said.
As reported, the Ukreximbank Supervisory Board selected Ponomarenko for the post of its CEO on May 3, 2024, following a competition. Ponomarenko started his career in the banking sector more than 24 years ago, including 20 years at ProCreditBank, where he has been CEO for 12 years.
According to NBU data, Ukreximbank was Ukraine's third largest bank by total assets (290.42 billion hryvni) out of 63 banks operating in the country as of May 1, 2024. ProCreditBank was in 15th place with 42.28 billion hryvni in total assets. Ukreximbank posted net profit of 5.23 billion hryvni in 2023. ProCreditBank's net profit last year stood at 0.70 billion hryvni.
