Russia commissions orbited Resurs-P remote sensing satellite

MOSCOW. June 18 (Interfax) - The Resurs-P4 remote sensing satellite, which was placed into orbit on March 31, has been commissioned, Roscosmos said on Tuesday.

"The Roscosmos state corporation has finalized preparations for commissioning the Resurs-P4 remote sensing satellite as part of the orbital system," it said.

A Soyuz-2.1b rocket launched Resurs-P4 from Baikonur Cosmodrome on March 31, and the satellite sent its first images to Earth on April 5.

The Progress Rocket and Space Center is the developer of Resurs-P satellites. The satellites help update maps, support economic operations of the Natural Resources and Environment Ministry, the Emergency Situations Ministry, the Federal Agency for Fisheries, the Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring, and other clients, and provide information for environmental monitoring and protection.
