Corteva donates sunflower seeds to Ukrainian farmers under FAO program
MOSCOW. June 18 (Interfax) - Corteva Agriscience, an international agricultural chemical and seed company, has donated soybean and sunflower seeds to farmers from eastern and southern Ukraine for the spring sowing campaign under a United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) program, Ukrainian media have reported with reference to the company's press service.
Under this program, small and medium-sized farms and agricultural producers cultivating from 10 to 500 hectares of farmland were entitled to apply for free seeds. The FAO transferred Corteva's Pioneer hybrid sunflower seeds to farmers from eastern and southern Ukraine to sow around 6,000 hectares.
Corteva and the FAO implemented the project jointly with the Ukrainian Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry, with financial support from the Japanese, Norwegian, and Belgian governments.
As part of a partner program with the Howard G. Buffett Foundation, Corteva donated about 8,000 seed units of winter rapeseed and 45,000 Pioneer seed units of corn and sunflower to small Ukrainian agricultural producers in 2023, it said.
Corteva Agriscience is a global agricultural company offering integrated solutions for maximizing yield and profits. It operates over 150 research facilities, and its portfolio includes over 65 active ingredients.
The company's mission in Ukraine includes a central office in Kiev, a research center in Lyubartsy, the Kiev region, and a seed production facility in Stasi, the Poltava region.
