Rosatom wants state support to develop floating power plants

MOSCOW. June 18 (Interfax) - Rosatom State Corporation would like state support for the development of its floating power plant projects, Vladimir Aptekarev, Deputy General Director for Shipbuilding, Floating Energy and Marine Equipment at Atomenergomash JSC, said at the Renwex forum.

"The only way to maintain leadership with this product is to subsidize exports even more than we already are. We need to compensate for China's head start," he said, explaining that China can catch up with Russia with this product in the near future amid the widespread support the industry has in China.

It is necessary to create a separate program to support the floating power plant product, he said.

"In order to ensure an attractive tariff, due to the high current key rate, as well as limitations on the ability to raise funds on international markets, the interest rate on loans needs to be subsidized," Aptekarev said.

In addition, the state corporation needs "limits of guarantees from the state export agency to work in already developed and new foreign markets which have a high level of risk."
