Irkutsk region companies to ship 750 mln rubles worth of oats and food products to China

IRKUTSK. June 17 (Interfax) - Companies from the Irkutsk region have signed export contracts to supply oats and food products to China, the press service of the regional government reported following a visit from a delegation led by Governor Igor Kobzev to Shenyang (China).

"Two export contracts have been concluded for a total amount of 750 million rubles; the documents relate to the supply of 10,000 tonnes of oats and food products from the Irkutsk region to China," the statement says.

The press service of the Irkutsk regional government told Interfax that Rassvet, a local company engaged in the production of grain and leguminous industrial crops, agreed with Chinese company Izhan to supply it with oats. In turn, the Siberian Trading Company and the Manchurian Export-Import Company entered into an agreement on the supply of food products.

"Regional business is very interested in entering Chinese markets; today there are representatives from 30 companies from the Irkutsk region there, while at least 200 Chinese companies have shown interest in working together with us. Today we need investment, the development of high-tech production, and the creation of new jobs," Kobzev said.

Kobzev said that agreements worth 50 billion rubles were signed during the delegation's visit to China.
