Gazprom Energoholding launches construction on 330 MW TPP in Sakha Republic

MOSCOW. June 17 (Interfax) - Gazprom Energoholding LLC has launched construction on the 330 MW Yuzhno-Yakutskaya thermal power plant (TPP) near the settlement of Chulman, Sakha Republic, an Interfax correspondent reported from the groundbreaking ceremony.

The new TPP will assist in resolving the issue of power connectivity to the railway infrastructure of the Eastern area of Russia's railways. The station will be a major consumer of gas from the Power of Siberia pipeline.

The TPP is expected to be commissioned in two stages, with two gas turbine units with overall capacity of 220 MW commissioned at the first stage, and a 110 MW steam turbine commissioned at the second stage.

GEH CEO Denis Fedorov previously said that the TPP would start operating in 2026-2027.

"The deadlines envisage that we will commission the first gas turbines in the fourth quarter of 2026, and then we will complete construction on the gas-steam cycle, therefore, this is the end of 2026 or beginning of 2027. We are implementing this through joint project financing with Gazprombank ," Fedorov said.

The TPP will use Chinese turbines, and Russian companies will supply steam-power equipment, Fedorov said.

Gazprom Energoholding unites the electric and power-engineering assets of PJSC Gazprom , including PJSC Mosenergo , PJSC OGK-2 , PJSC MOEK, and PJSC TGK-1 , and is their respective majority shareholder. Gazprom wholly owns the company.
