Ukrainian State Border Guard Service provides border-crossing data
MOSCOW. June 17 (Interfax) - The number of travels across the Ukrainian border grew 5.9%, between June 8 and 14, in particular, the number of departures grew from 291,000 to 306,000, alongside an increase in arrivals from 251,000 to 268,000 from the week before, Ukrainian media said, citing the State Border Guard Service's statement on a social network.
There was also an uptick in the number of vehicles crossing the border, from 118,000 to 119,000, alongside an increase in the number of humanitarian vehicles from 585 to 598.
The service noted that the number of departures traditionally grows on weekends and the last days before weekends, while the number of arrivals increases on Sundays and at the beginning of a week.
According to the updated information from the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, there were 6.555 million Ukrainian refugees across the world, including 5.997 million in Europe, as of June 13, 2024. This is 81,000 and 55,000 more, respectively, than a month before.
As of April 2024, the UN estimated the number of internally displaced persons in Ukraine at 3.548 million, or 141,000 fewer than at the beginning of this year.
