Belgian presidency of Council of EU announces beginning of EU admission talks with Ukraine, Moldova on June 25

BRUSSELS. June 17 (Interfax) - EU permanent representatives have agreed on the framework of EU admission talks with Ukraine and Moldova, the Belgian presidency of the Council of the European Union said on the X social network.

"Ambassadors agreed in principle on the negotiating frameworks for the accession negotiations of Ukraine and Moldova," it said.

"The Belgian presidency will call the first intergovernmental conferences on June 25," it said.

EU member states decided on December 14 to begin admission talks with Ukraine and Moldova. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban abstained and left the room when the EU leaders approved the beginning of EU admission talks with Ukraine.

European Commission Executive Vice-President Maros Sefcovic said in Strasbourg on March 12 that the European Commission had finalized proposals on the framework of negotiations with Ukraine and Moldova, which would be presented to the Council of the European Union for consideration.
