Conference with participation by Kiev, Moscow needed for peace in Ukraine - Brazilian president

ROME. June 14 (Interfax) --Effective settlement of the Ukraine situation is only possible after a peace conference with participation by both Kiev and Moscow, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said on Friday.

"Only an international conference recognized by both side, as was proposed by Brazil and China, could facilitate sustainable peace settlement," EFE quoted Da Silva as saying on the sidelines of a G7 summit.

As reported previously, the Brazilian president is not going to the upcoming international conference in Switzerland, which Russian representatives will not attend.

Switzerland will host a summit on Ukrainian settlement on June 15-16. It is expected that sides participating in the conference will discuss the so-called peace formula proposed by Kiev. Russia will not take part in the summit.
