Cargo handling at Russian seaports down 3.4% to 373 mln tonnes in Jan-May - seaport association

MOSCOW. June 14 (Interfax) - Cargo handling at Russian seaports fell by 3.4% year-on-year to 373 million tonnes in January-May, the Association of Commercial Seaports (ACS) posted on its website.

Dry cargo transshipment fell by 4.3% to 181 million tonnes and liquid cargo transshipment by 3.6% to 192 million tonnes.

In the dry cargo segment, transshipment of coal fell by 13.9% to 77.2 million tonnes, ferrous metals by 11.9% to 8.3 million tonnes, ore by 4.6% to 3.8 million tonnes, and ferry cargo by 2.3% to 3.2 million tonnes. Grain transshipment increased by 11% to 31.5 million tonnes, containerized cargo by 10.7% to 23.1 million tonnes, and mineral fertilizers by 30.3% to 17.6 million tonnes.

In the liquid cargo segment, transshipment of liquefied gas rose by 3.6% to 16 million tonnes and food cargo by 16.9% to 2.9 million tonnes. Oil transshipment declined by 1.8% to 115.3 million tonnes and oil products by 9.8% to 56.2 million tonnes.

Russian seaports handled 295.1 million tonnes of export cargo (-3.4%), 17 million tonnes of import cargo (+3%), 28.4 million tonnes of transit cargo (+1.3%), and 32.5 million tonnes of coastal cargo (-10%).
