Oil pumped via BTC pipeline dips 3.6% in Jan-May, transit rises nearly 15% - state statistics committee

BAKU. June 14 (Interfax) - The Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline pumped about 11.986 million tonnes of oil in January-May 2024, a decline of 3.6% year-on-year, Azerbaijan's State Statistics Committee told Interfax.

Azerbaijani oil accounted for 81.3% of the volume pumped, or 9.749 million tonnes, a decrease of 7% year-on-year, while transited oil, particularly from Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan, accounted for 18.7% of the volume pumped, or about 2.237 million tonnes, an increase of 14.8%.

State Statistics Committee data indicate that 75.1% of the overall volume of oil transported via the main oil pipelines of Azerbaijan was pumped via BTC in January-May 2024.
