Russia to facilitate smooth inclusion of new BRICS members in group bodies in 2024 - Putin

MOSCOW. June 14 (Interfax) - The Russian presidency of BRICS will facilitate the integration of new members into the group's working bodies, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

"As part of the Russian presidency, we will facilitate the smooth inclusion of new BRICS members into the working bodies of the group this year," Putin said at a meeting with the Russian Foreign Ministry's leadership on Friday.

Putin gave a corresponding order to the government. "I am asking the government and the Foreign Ministry to carry on their substantive work and the dialogue with partners in order to approach the BRICS summit in Kazan in October with a weighty package of approved solutions to set the vector of our cooperation on politics, security, the economy, finance, science, culture, sport and humanitarian relations," he said.

Putin noted the increased potential of BRICS, which will take an important place in the multipolar world. "On the whole, I believe that the potential of BRICS will allow it to eventually become a core institution regulating the multipolar world order," he said.

"The international discussion of parameters of interstate interaction in the multipolar world and the democratization of the entire system of international relations is already in progress," Putin said.

For instance, a document on international relations in a multipolar world has been coordinated with colleagues from the Commonwealth of Independent States, he said. In addition, members of other organizations, including the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and BRICS have been invited to the discussion, he said.
