Russian airlines see passenger traffic rise nearly 7% YoY in May
MOSCOW. June 14 (Interfax) - Russian airlines saw passenger traffic rise 6.8% year-on-year to 9.3 million travelers in May 2024, the Federal Agency for Air Transport (Rosaviatsia) said, citing preliminary data.
Aeroflot , Pobeda Airlines, S7 Airlines (Siberia), Rossiya Airlines, and Ural Airlines were the top five carriers, boosting passenger transportation 10.6% to 6.4 million travelers.
"Stable confirmation of the optimistic trend refutes the skeptical assumptions of many experts voiced at the beginning of the year regarding a projected shortage in the aircraft fleet," Alexander Fridlyand, director of the Research Center for Government Policy in Civil Aviation of the State Civil Aviation Research Institute federal state unitary enterprise, was quoted as saying by Rosaviatsia.
