MOSCOW. June 13 (Interfax) - The Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) in Turkey costs $24-25 billion to build at current prices, Rosatom's general director Alexei Likhachev told the science and education council on Thursday.

The construction has so far been funded by Rosatom, Turkey's financing has not started yet, he said.

Rosatom is building 22 reactors abroad, of the total 39 under contracts, he said. Seven reactors are being built inside the country.

Rosatom is building Turkey's first NPP Akkuyu in the country's Mersin Province. The Akkuyu NPP will comprise four power units with capacity of 1200 MW each. The actual launch of the NPP is scheduled for 2024.

As previously reported, Turkey has been considering projects to construct two additional NPPs in the Sinop and Trakya provinces, respectively.
