Ukraine Recovery Conference in Berlin launches projects worth over 16 bln euros

MOSCOW. June 13 (Interfax) - The Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC2024) in Berlin has extended the number of dimensions of this recovery to four, including business, European integration, municipalities, and human capital, and launched projects valued in aggregate at over 16 billion euros, German Foreign Office State Secretary Thomas Bagger said.

"Sixteen billion euros is an estimated value of the projects that were launched at the conference," Ukrainian media quoted Bagger as saying at the URC closing ceremony.

Ukrainian First Deputy Prime Minister and Economy Minister Yulia Sviridenko, who led the government delegation at URC2024, confirmed this tentative estimate. The Economy Ministry will review the conference's results and specify how this amount would be distributed among the dimensions in the near future, she said.

Speaking at a press conference following the URC, Sviridenko said it gathered around 3,000 participants, over 110 business agreements were signed, and a consultative council for business was set up to facilitate private sector's involvement in Ukraine's recovery and reconstruction.

"Ukraine has signed several agreements aimed at promoting renewable energy sources and delivering gas turbine and gas piston cogeneration plants. Therefore, I think one of the crucial things is that this conference produces results in the energy sector," she said.

Among other achievements, Sviridenko also mentioned the establishment of a Skills Alliance for Ukraine designed to raise 700 million euros to address structural unemployment in Ukraine, while 6.5 million Ukrainians are currently staying abroad.
