G7+ partners announce over $1 bln in additional assistance for Ukraine's energy sector - ministry
MOSCOW. June 13 (Interfax) - G7+ partners announced more than $1 billion in additional assistance for Ukraine's energy sector at the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC2024) in Berlin.
The G7+ Coordination Group on assisting Ukraine's energy sector held a high-level meeting on the sidelines of URC2024 attended by representatives of 25 countries, institutions and organizations, Ukrainian media cited the Energy Ministry as saying in a statement on Thursday.
"Representatives of the partner countries issued a statement following the meeting, reaffirming plans to continue to help restore the Ukrainian energy sector," the ministry said.
The additional aid pledge includes 70 million euros in new grant contributions to the Energy Support Fund of Ukraine, $500 million in new funding from the United States to support the energy sector, 300 million euros in additional funding from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and at least $47 million in an additional grant from the World Bank and donations in the form of humanitarian assistance from EU member states.
The partner countries also reiterated the importance of ENTSO-E's measures to increase electricity exports to Ukraine, pledging to step up their efforts to provide equipment to repair damaged electricity production and transmission infrastructure in the 2024-2025 winter period, the ministry said.
