DTEK, France's Schneider Electric to use innovations to boost Ukrainian energy system's resilience
MOSCOW. June 13 (Interfax) - Ukraine's DTEK Group and France's Schneider Electric have signed a memorandum on cooperation in enhancing the resilience of the Ukrainian energy system, Ukrainian media said, citing DTEK.
Schneider Electric is one of the world's leaders in the digital transformation of energy management and automation.
DTEK Energo will invest nearly 4 billion hryvni in repairs and restoration of thermal power plants in 2024, media outlets said, citing DTEK Energo CEO Ildar Saleyev as saying in a statement on social media.
Ukraine's energy system has lost 9.2 GW of generation capacity, and over 80% of DTEK's thermal power plants have been damaged, Saleyev said.
"We are mobilizing our internal resource. We are investing around 3.9 billion hryvni of our own funds in the repair and restoration campaign at thermal power plants. This is in line with last year's investments," he said.
DTEK Energo provides a closed cycle of electricity generation from coal. The installed capacity of its heat generation was 13.3 GW as of January 2022. The full production circle involving coal mining and enrichment, machine building, and maintenance of mine equipment, was created in coal mining.
