Aeroflot group boosts passenger traffic 22.3% YoY in May 2024
MOSCOW. June 11 (Interfax) - The Aeroflot group boosted passenger traffic 22.3% year-on-year to around 4.6 million passengers in May 2024, the company said.
Travel on domestic flights increased 17.2% to 3.5 million passengers, and travel on international flights surged 43% to nearly 1.1 million passengers.
Overall passenger turnover rose 27.1% to 11.9 billion revenue passenger kilometers (RPK), available seat kilometers (ASK) increased 22.7% to 13.8 billion passenger-kilometers, and the seat load factor grew 3 percentage points to 86.4%.
Aeroflot Airlines carried just over 2.5 million passengers last month, growth of 25.9%, including 1.79 million travelers on domestic routes, up 26.8%, and 715,800 travelers on international routes, up 23.9%. Passenger turnover increased 30.6% to 7.3 billion RPK.
The Aeroflot group at the beginning of the year planned to transport over 50 million passengers in 2024. CEO Sergei Alexandrovsky at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) 2024 said that the plan had increased to 53 million passengers accounting for the results of the first quarter. The group transported 47.3 million passengers last year.
Aeroflot's website indicates that the group's fleet comprised 349 aircraft at the end of April this year, including 59 wide-body and 212 narrow-body medium-haul Boeing and Airbus aircraft, as well as 78 domestic regional Superjet 100 aircraft.
