Lavrov, Saudi counterpart meet on sidelines of BRICS Foreign Ministers Council in Nizhny Novgorod

NIZHNY NOVGOROD. June 10 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his Saudi counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, have met for talks on the sidelines of the BRICS Foreign Ministers Council in Russia's Nizhny Novgorod.

"It is great that you are here now. We missed you in the morning. But I am sure that you were told about the discussions that took place," Lavrov said at the onset of the meeting.

The Saudi foreign minister in turn thanked the Russian side for invitation and expressed his admiration for the beauty of Nizhny Novgorod.

On January 1, 2024, Saudi Arabia joined BRICS along with Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates.

Earlier on Monday, Lavrov met with his counterparts from China, Egypt, Brazil, Ethiopia, South Africa, Thailand, Iran, Sri Lanka, Laos and Kazakhstan.
