Polyplastic Group considering building pipe factories in Uzbekistan
ST. PETERSBURG. June 10 (Interfax) - Polyplastic Group is considering the construction of pipe production plants in Uzbekistan and other countries, group president Lev Gorilovsky said in an interview with Interfax.
"We have already built several production facilities in Kazakhstan, and there is a plant in Belarus. At the same time, we still export some types of products there. We are also looking at the possibility of building new plants in Uzbekistan and other territories," he said.
Gorilovsky said that the company is analyzing the stability of demand in the Uzbekistan market: "If we could simply sign an offset contract, and the state could guarantee consumption volumes, of course, we would be happy to invest money. We must understand that there is long-term demand there, and not just a need, but also an opportunity confirmed by money. We talked with several factories there now, and they have a much smaller technological range and capabilities. We understand what we could bring to this market, but we do not yet fully understand the volume of demand."
Gorilovsky also said that the company might consider the possibility of building factories in Uzbekistan using other available technologies.
"This is not just about polymer pipes, but also trenchless pipeline restoration technologies. We are also the only one in the post-Soviet space to produce a special profile made of unplasticized polyvinyl chloride, which allows us to sanitize sewers from the inside and restore them without excavation in cities. This is an interesting technology. Therefore, if there is sufficient demand in these territories [abroad], then we can localize these technologies," he said.
Regarding plans for the construction of enterprises in Russia, Gorilovsky named three priority regions: the Stavropol and Primorsky territories, as well as the Leningrad region.
Polyplastic Group is the largest manufacturer of polymer pipes in Russia and the EAEU for external water supply and sewerage networks, gas distribution, hot water supply and heating. The group has pipe factories in Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan with a total capacity of about 750,000 tonnes.
