Ukrainian State Border Guard Service provides border-crossing statistics

MOSCOW. June 10 (Interfax) - The number of departures from Ukraine grew 12.8% to 291,000 on the first week of summer, June 1-7, from 254,000 in the previous weeks, while the number of arrivals increased by 3.3% to 251,000, Ukrainian media said, citing a statement by the State Border Guard Service on a social network.

There was an uptick in vehicles crossing the border, from 115,000 to 118,000, over the past week, while the number of humanitarian trucks decreased from 615 to 585.

The number of passengers crossing the border on the first week of summer is practically unchanged from last year, yet the gap between departures and arrivals was a bit smaller, 25,000 then versus 40,000 now, and the number of vehicles crossing the border was larger, 130,000 versus 118,000.

The Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees updated the number of Ukrainian refugees to 6.484 million globally, including 5.942 million in Europe, as of May 16, 2024, which is 12,000 more in both cases, compared to the previous month.

As of December 31, 2023, the UN estimated the number of internally displaced people in Ukraine at 3.689 million.
