Russia's agro ministry sees no complications in grain exports owing to Turkey imposing temporary ban on wheat imports - agriculture minister

ST. PETERSBURG. June 7 (Interfax) - Russia will not experience complications with grain exports owing to Turkey's ban on wheat imports, Agriculture Minister Oksana Luth told reporters on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) 2024 when commenting on Turkey's decision to ban wheat imports for the next 4.5 months.

"We do not see any difficulties here. This will generally not have any negative effects on us, given that the harvest will be significantly lower than the last two years. We trade with a large number of countries, and our wheat is required in a large number of countries," she said.

"As we have already said, our forecast remains at 132 million tonnes of grain and 86 million tonnes of wheat. We are hoping for rain, though we simply will not have the volume if there is a drought," Luth said.
