Russian FM meets with Nicaraguan presidential rep
ST. PETERSBURG. June 7 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Nicaraguan Special Presidential Representative for Relations with Russia Laureano Ortega have met on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
"Hopefully, the president and the vice-president are well, we are following their activity. President [of Russia Vladimir] Putin knows about our meeting and has asked me to convey his best wishes to President Daniel Ortega and Vice President Rosario Murillo," Lavrov said in his opening remarks.
In turn, Ortega conveyed "cordial greetings from the president and the vice president" to Lavrov and Putin.
He thanked Lavrov for the meeting and noted that "SPIEF's quality improves year after year." "I believe the forum is crucial for forming the new world order we are working on together with Russia, China and other countries," Ortega said.
