Level of Iran's participation in July SCO summit not yet determined - Peskov

ST. PETERSBURG. June 7 (Interfax) - There is no information yet about the level of Iran's participation in the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Astana on July 3-4, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.

"As far as I know, there is no understanding yet about the level of the Iranian side's participation," Peskov told reporters on Friday, answering a question by Interfax.

Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov said earlier that Russian President Vladimir Putin is planning to participate in the SCO summit.

Putin said at a meeting with heads of the world's leading news agencies in St. Petersburg that he is looking forward to meet with the new president of Iran after the elections in the country on the sidelines of the SCO summit and during other events.

"We are looking forward to the elections of the Iranian president. I am looking forward to a meeting with a new Iranian president at international events, such as the SCO and BRICS," Putin said.
