Ukrainian State Border Guard Service reports checkpoint unblocking at border with Poland
MOSCOW. June 7 (Interfax) - Polish farmers unblocked the Rava Russka - Hrebenne checkpoint at the Polish-Ukrainian border in the small hours of Friday, Ukrainian media said, citing spokesman for the Ukrainian State Border Guard Service Andrei Demchenko.
"Traffic to both Poland and Ukraine resumed after midnight," Demchenko said on the Rada television channel.
The blocking began on June 4. The protesters did not allow trucks to cross the border from Ukraine, while inbound trucks crossed into Ukraine on schedule: 12 trucks were cleared within 12 hours, in addition to four humanitarian trucks per hour. Other kinds of vehicles could travel normally both ways.
As of the moment of unblocking the checkpoint, about 150 were standing in line on the Polish territory. About 200 trucks were waiting at the Yagodin checkpoint, and 400 at Krakovets.
The protesters demanded cutting Polish imports of Ukrainian grains, the Ukrainian State Border Guard Service said.
