Taiwan restricts nitrocellulose exports to Russia, Belarus

MINSK. June 6 (Interfax) - The Taiwanese Ministry of Economic Affairs has restricted exports of nitrocellulose to Russia and Belarus, according to a decision published on the ministry's website.

"The Ministry of Economic Affairs announced that it expanded the scope of restrictions on exports to Russia and Belarus by adding nitrocellulose," the ministry said.

"This new control policy will officially take effect on June 14, 2024," it said.

"Nitrocellulose is being known as an essential component in smokeless gunpowder and ammunition propellant, and has already been regulated by the U.S. and the EU. As such, the control is necessary to prevent a regulatory loophole," the document published by the Taiwanese ministry says.
