Ukraine and China hold political consultations in Beijing
MOSCOW. June 6 (Interfax) - Ukraine and China held political consultations at the level of their deputy foreign ministers on Wednesday, June 5.
Ukraine was represented at the consultations by Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Sibiga, and China by Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong, Ukrainian media said, citing the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry's press service.
"The parties discussed key issues on the bilateral agenda and outlined joint steps to intensify contacts at the top and high levels, bolster the positive dynamics of trade and economic cooperation and further interact within international organizations," the press service said.
They reiterated the importance of abiding by the principles of the UN Charter and international law, it said. Sibiga, in turn, informed the Chinese side on the situation in Ukraine.
The parties also touched upon the upcoming Swiss-hosted conference on Ukraine, which China has decided not to attend, the press service said.
During his visit to Beijing, the Ukrainian diplomat also met with China's Special Representative for Eurasian Affairs Li Hui and Vice Minister of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party Chen Zhou.
