Russian wealth fund shrinks by 47 bln rubles to 12.704 trln rubles in May

MOSCOW. June 5 (Interfax) - Russia's National Welfare Fund (NWF) stood at 12.704 trillion rubles or the equivalent of $141.489 billion on June 1, which amounted to 7.1% of anticipated GDP in 2024, the Finance Ministry reported.

The fund therefore shrank by 47.024 billion rubles from May 1, when it totalled 12.751 trillion rubles (the equivalent of $138.93 billion) or 7.1% of GDP.

The NWF's liquid assets totalled the equivalent of 5.046 trillion rubles or $56.2 billion on June 1, which amounted to 2.8% of GDP. A month earlier, these assets stood at 5.172 trillion rubles or $56.355 billion, which amounted to 2.9% of GDP.

The fund's liquid assets totaled 5.087 trillion rubles or $55.083 billion (2.8% of GDP) on April 1; 5.045 trillion rubles or $54.911 billion (2.8% of GDP) on March 1; 4.907 trillion rubles or $54.958 billion (2.7% of GDP) on February 1; and 5.012 trillion rubles or $55.88 billion (3.3% of GDP) on January 1.

NWF accounts hold 227.616 billion Chinese yuan, 1.252 billion rubles and 329.705 tonnes of gold, down from 334.367 tonnes a month earlier.
