Belarus considering construction of another NPP - energy minister

MINSK. June 4 (Interfax) - The construction of a second nuclear power plant (NPP) is being considered in Belarus, Belarusian Energy Minister Viktor Karankevich said.

"These issues are being considered. A lot of serious work involving the consideration of all aspects, technological, environmental, [and] economic, is underway. We're looking into these issues together with our Russian colleagues," he said when answering a question from the BelTA state-run news agency about the construction of a second NPP in the country.

"A relevant working group has been set up in Belarus. It involves a large list of government bodies and specialized organizations, including the National Academy of Sciences," Karankevich said.
