Ukraine implementing quota of 137,000 tonnes on exporting poultry to EU as of July 1
MOSCOW. June 3 (Interfax) - Ukraine is implementing a quota of 137,000 tonnes on exporting poultry meat and by-products to European Union countries as of July 1 as part of the duty-free trade requirement, "visa-free trade", with the EU, Ukrainian media reported, citing the government's resolution from May 30.
The resolution indicates a quota to supply poultry meat and by-products to the EU, particularly exporting 133,280 tonnes of chicken, goose, duck, and guinea fowl (Ukrainian classification of foreign economic activity goods code 0207), and 3,760 tonnes of turkey meat and by-products (Ukrainian classification of foreign economic activity goods code 0207 24-27).
Ukraine's Economic Ministry plans to review applications for issuing licenses to export these goods to the EU. Permits will be issued based on applications and approvals provided by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy.
The procedure for licensing exports of goods under quota to EU countries is also mandatory when a non-resident counterparty is registered in the EU under a foreign trade agreement/contract.
As reported, the EU Council on May 13 finally approved extending the autonomous trade measures for Ukrainian exports for another 12 months until June 5, 2025. Meantime, restrictions have been implemented this time on the duty-free supply of a number of agricultural products, namely poultry meat, eggs, sugar, oats, cereals, corn, and honey, totaling the average volume of exports for the second half of 2021 to the end of 2023.
Autonomous trade measures have been in effect since June 2022.
