Kyrgyz president, Japanese secretary of state discuss developing trade, economic relations
BISHKEK. June 3 (Interfax) - Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov has met with Japanese Secretary of State Kiyoto Tsuji, the Kyrgyz presidential press service said on Monday.
"Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov received Japanese Secretary of State and Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Kiyoto Tsuji," the press service said.
The parties discussed intensifying their political dialogue, interparliamentary ties, and developing trade and economic, cultural, and humanitarian relations, it said. The parties also discussed the summit of Central Asian countries and Japan which is scheduled to take place in August.
Japarov noted that the meeting should play a crucial role in further enhancing regional cooperation and in finding new, practically feasible forms of interaction.
Tsuji highly appreciated the bilateral interaction in preparing for the summit and said he was willing to make efforts to ensure the event's success. The Japanese side intends to put forward new cooperation initiatives that will ensure the sustainable development of the region and address global issues, he said.
"Japan stands ready to consider the implementation of joint projects aimed at developing tourism, human resources and supporting small and medium-sized businesses as part of deepening cooperation with Kyrgyzstan," the press service said.
