Moscow hopes to solve problems with Russian citizens' travel to Mexico under new Mexican president - deputy FM
MOSCOW. June 3 (Interfax) - Moscow congratulates Claudia Sheinbaum on winning the Mexican presidential election and counts on the soonest resolution of problems, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said.
"Of course, we congratulate Ms. Sheinbaum on her impressive success. We have been developing a rather fruitful political dialogue and material cooperation with Mexico for a rather long time," Ryabkov said when asked to comment on the outcome of the Mexican election.
"We hope that our relations will be developed further under the new Mexican administration and the rather unpleasant issue, related to certain difficulties with Russian citizens' trips or to transit through Mexico, that emerged lately will be overcome," he said.
"Our respective agencies, including those in charge of aviation security, are maintaining dialogue. Hopefully, no such thing will happen and if something of the sort occurs we will be able to solve the problems in a constructive manner," Ryabkov said.
