Georgian Foreign Ministry summons Lithuanian ambassador to warn him against interfering in country's internal affairs
TBILISI. May 31 (Interfax) - The Georgian Foreign Ministry on Friday summoned Lithuanian Ambassador Andrius Kalindra over Vilnius's position and steps regarding the passage of legislation on the transparency of foreign influence by the Georgian parliament.
"Georgia made it clear to the ambassador that some statements made recently by Lithuanian officials and the Lithuanian foreign minister's participation in protest demonstrations in Tbilisi, as well as the summoning of the Georgian ambassador to the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry over the adoption of the law On the Transparency of Foreign Influence, constitute blatant interference in the country's internal affairs and are inconsistent with historically friendly relations and partnership existing between the two countries," the Georgian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The participants in the meeting said they looked forward to returning a positive agenda to the relationship between two countries, the Georgian Foreign Ministry said.
