Russia has exported record 500,000 tonnes of pulses to India since start of 2024

SOCHI. May 31 (Interfax) - Russia has exported about 500,000 tonnes of grain legumes to India since the beginning of this year, Deputy Head of Rosselkhoznadzor Anton Karmazin said at the All-Russian Grain Forum on Friday.

"We have sent almost 500,000 tonnes of grain legumes to India since the beginning of 2024. Generally, this is a record, but the market capacity is quite serious," Karmazin said.

India has lifted the mandatory requirement that Russia fumigate all grains, legumes, and oilseeds with methyl bromide, he said.

"This was a mandatory requirement from the Indian side. Either that, or the exporter was forced to carry out this processing directly at the port of unloading," Karmazin said.
