Russia, China use national currencies for over 90% of trade settlements - Lavrov
MOSCOW. May 30 (Interfax) - Russia and China use national currencies for over 90% of bilateral trade settlements, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
"Russia was upgraded to the fourth position on the list of China's foreign trade partners for the first time last year. I note in particular that over 90% of bilateral trade settlements are carried out in rubles and yuan," Lavrov said in a video address to the Russia and China: Cooperation in a New Era conference.
Russian-Chinese relations of "comprehensive partnership and strategic interaction have reached an unprecedentedly high level" thanks to the personal efforts of the Russian and Chinese presidents, Lavrov said.
"The Beijing summit reaffirmed the commitment to deepening them further. There is no doubt that the agreements reached will give a strong impetus to bilateral cooperation in all areas and will fill it with new content," he said.
