Moscow ready to resume talks with Kiev based on realities on the ground, Istanbul agreements - Putin

MINSK. May 24 (Interfax) - A resumption of peace talks between Russia and Ukraine is possible based on the current realities on the ground and the outcomes of the 2022 negotiations in Istanbul, Russian President Vladimir Putin told journalists on Friday.

"Conversations have been resumed about the need to return to negotiations. Let them return. But they should return not based on what one side wants but based on the principled agreements that were achieved in the complicated negotiations in Belarus and Turkey and based on the current realities on the ground," Putin said.

"We're ready for that," he said.
