Hourly power cut schedules to be in effect across Ukraine throughout the day on Fri - Ukrenergo

MOSCOW. May 24 (Interfax) - Hourly power outage schedules will be in effect for industrial consumers and households across Ukraine throughout the day on Friday, May 24, as they were on Thursday, Ukrainian media outlets cited the Ukrenergo power grid operator as saying on social media.

Power supply to critical infrastructure that provides essential services to the population has not been limited, Ukrenergo said.

The restrictions are due to anticipated rainy weather and dense clouds in the majority of Ukraine's regions, a circumstance that will not allow solar farms to operate at their maximum capacity, the company said. Consequently, there will be power shortages in the grid during daylight hours as well.

Power cuts may be introduced if the consumption caps set for each region are exceeded, Ukrenergo said. As reported, hourly power cut schedules were also in force throughout the day on Thursday, May 23.

Hourly power outage schedules will be in effect for Kiev throughout the day on May 24, Ukrainian media cited city military administration head Sergei Popko as saying.

"In line with Ukrenergo's instructions, hourly outage schedules will be in effect for industrial consumers and households in Kiev throughout the day on May 24," Popko said on social media.

The supply limits set by Ukrenergo will be sufficient to cover 76% of Kiev's electricity needs on average, he said.
