CBR to hold cybersecurity exercises with BRICS national banks

MOSCOW. May 24 (Interfax) - The Central Bank of Russia (CBR) plans to hold adversary emulation exercises with the national banks of other BRICS countries for the first time in 2024, the CBR said in a report on the main types of cyberattacks in the financial sector in 2023.

The CBR is also planning similar exercises with banks from other Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) countries, which are expected to be held in 2024-2025. In the course of the exercises, they will further fine-tune cooperation, including on unauthorized cross-border transactions made using various payment instruments.

The CBR took the helm of the BRICS Rapid Information Security Channel (BRISC) in 2024 as part of Russia's chairmanship of BRICS.

The EAEU has a working group on cybersecurity to coordinate actions in the area of information security. The CBR provides assistance in the creation of CERT (Computer Emergency Response Team) divisions when necessary.
