Putin to visit Uzbekistan on May 26-27, several documents to be signed - aide

MOSCOW. May 23 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit Uzbekistan on May 26-27, and a number of documents will be signed on the visit's sidelines, presidential aide Yury Ushakov said.

"For now, I can say that a visit to Belarus will be paid today and tomorrow, followed by a visit to Uzbekistan on Sunday and on Monday," Ushakov told reporters.

As to whether any documents may be signed during the visit, Ushakov said, "Yes, there are such plans. A number of documents."

Putin had a phone conversation with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on May 21, the preparations for the Russian president's upcoming visit to Uzbekistan were discussed, the Kremlin press service said earlier. "A number of practical aspects regarding the further development of bilateral cooperation, including trade and economic relations, were discussed in that context. Both sides reaffirmed the aspiration to further consistently strengthen the alliance and strategic partnership between Russia and Uzbekistan," the report said.
