SIBUR plans by 2029 to construct units to produce polystyrene, ethylbenzene, styrene at NKNK by allocating over 180 bln rubles

MOSCOW. May 23 (Interfax) - SIBUR plans in 2025 to launch construction on new ethylbenzene, styrene, and polystyrene production units, respectively, at the Nizhnekamskneftekhim site, intending to attain mechanical completion and commission operations for 2028, the petrochemical holding said.

"Polystyrene will be the final product of the chain. Design production capacity includes 350,000 tonnes of ethylbenzene, 400,000 tonnes of styrene, and 250,000 tonnes of polystyrene per year, respectively. Products from the EP-600 complex will be the raw material for them, and the complex should produce the first tonnes this year," SIBUR said.
