SOCAR and Baker Hughes to open submersible pump assembly center in Azerbaijan

BAKU. May 23 (Interfax) - The Azneft production association (a division of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) for oil and gas production) and Baker Hughes (USA) have agreed to organize the assembly of submersible pumps (electric submersible pump, ESP) in Azerbaijan.

"A ceremony was held in Baku to sign a letter of commitment to introduce Baker Hughes ESP technology in Azerbaijan and create a joint center of excellence in the country for the assembly, repair and maintenance of electric submersible pumps," SOCAR Upstream Operations Management LLC told Interfax-Azerbaijan.

The document was signed on May 22 by General Director of Azneft PA Ali Gurbanov and the Director of Baker Hughes for the Caspian region Carlo Beltrame.

"In addition, an agreement was reached between the companies to increase efficiency and increase production by optimizing processes throughout the entire cycle," the company noted.

Electric centrifugal submersible pumps can be used for lifting out salt and acid solutions in deep and inclined (to the point of being horizontal) oil wells, highly watered wells, wells with iodine-bromine waters, and wells with high salinity reservoir waters.
