Shmygal tasks Energy Ministry, Ukrenergo with drafting resolution on fair power outage schedules

MOSCOW. May 23 (Interfax) - Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal has tasked the Energy Ministry and Ukrenergo with drafting a government resolution on fair power outage schedules.

"The situation in the energy sector is severe. We are continuing to import electricity from Europe in record amounts because of a sizable shortage. However, the imports are unable to compensate for the losses. Hence, Ukrenergo has to resort to hourly power outages at enterprises and households," Ukrainian media quoted Shmygal as saying at a government meeting.

A conscious position of every client is crucial, same as rational, fair and equal outage schedules, he said.

"The Energy Ministry and Ukrenergo have been tasked with drafting a government resolution on fair power outage schedules. The document should also contain a list of crucial infrastructure that needs priority power supply and the priority of distribution of maximum capacity among non-critical clients," Shmygal said.
