UK bans Belarusian aluminum imports

MINSK. May 22 (Interfax) - The United Kingdom has added aluminum to the list of prohibited imports, the British Global Sanctions website said on Tuesday.

"Restrict the import of aluminum and ancillary services from Belarus," the website said.

According to the website, sanctions also apply to financial and brokering services related to Belarusian aluminum supplies.

In June 2023, the UK imposed restrictions on Belarus, banning imports of gold, cement, wood and rubber, as well as banknotes and machinery, goods, technologies and materials that can be used to produce chemical and biological weapons. Later, the sanctions list was expanded with restrictive measures against a number of Belarusian enterprises and citizens.
