Belarus bans imports of certain goods from Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Czechia, Estonia

MINSK. May 21 (Interfax) - The government of Belarus has expanded the list of goods banned from being imported and distributed in the country; relevant amendments were made to the resolution of the Council of Ministers of December 6, 2021.

"The aforementioned list includes certain goods originating from Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, the Czech Republic, and Estonia, [namely,] beer, fermented beverages, skincare products, hair products, shaving supplies, oral and dental hygiene products, deodorants, bath products, soap, cleaning supplies, carpets and floor coverings, men's textile clothes, shoes with a top part made of genuine leather, headwear, bedclothes, dinner, kitchen, porcelain and glass ware, mattress frames, lacquers, paints, slabs, sheets, films made of plastic, labels and stickers made of paper and cardboard," the press service for the Belarusian government said on Tuesday.

The resolution also bans imports and distribution of water, including mineral and sparkling, from the unfriendly countries.

"The resolution was drafted in retaliation to the decisions made by Latvia to ban imports of certain categories of food from Belarus and by Lithuania to ban imports of agricultural products and feed from Belarus for one year, as well as to the drafted regulation of the Council of the European Union, the main sponsors of which were the five countries, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, the Czech Republic, and Estonia, establishing increased duties on imports of Belarusian agricultural products," the press service said.
