Gazprom meets with Uzbek Energy Ministry on eve of Putin's visit

MOSCOW. May 21 (Interfax) - Chairman of the Board of Gazprom Alexei Miller met with the Uzbek Energy Minister Zhurabek Mirzamakhmudov on Tuesday, the Russian company reported.

The meeting took place on the eve of Russian President Vladimir Putin's upcoming visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Gazprom "reliably supplies gas to the republic, including during periods of peak demand, along a specially designated route based on the Central Asia - Center gas pipeline system," a company statement said.

Progress in implementing the strategic memorandum on cooperation in the energy complex was also discussed at the meeting.

A contract for the supply of Russian gas to Uzbekistan and a road map for preparing the gas transportation system of Uzbekistan for the acceptance and transportation of Russian pipeline gas were signed in June 2023.

A solemn ceremony was held in October 2023 to commemorate the start of Russian natural gas supplies to consumers in the Republic of Uzbekistan through the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan along a specially designated route based on the Central Asia - Center gas pipeline system.
