Ukraine's place is in European Union - German FM

MOSCOW. May 21 (Interfax) - Germany 'firmly stands on the side of Ukraine," Ukrainian media quoted German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock as saying in Kiev on Tuesday during her eighth visit to Ukraine.

"The minister's trip aims to assure Ukrainians that Germany and Europe will firmly stand on the side of Ukraine and will continue their support," media quoted Baerbock's statement as reported by the German Foreign Ministry.

"Ukraine can count" on German support "in the long term," she said.

Ukraine's place is in the European Union, Baerbock said. "Ukraine has made impressive progress and has taken the path of reforms. It is important to carry on our efforts towards the judicial reform, the fight against corruption, and media freedom," she said.
